Collecting is Insanity and I love it...
What makes us collect?
Well I can start off telling you how my Joker card collecting started, some drunk fool got red wine all over my favorite deck of cards with Skegness backs... so since my deck of cards was heavily marked for all future and more or less useless I kept the Joker who had managed to survive unsoiled...
Then when I got home I put it on my kitchen wall, and from then on I would pick out any joker from any new deck of cards I bough and put it on my kitchen wall...
Then on and on my Madness and craving for new Jokers to my collection grew, I asked friends and relatives if I could steal their Jokers... I suddenly couldn't just go past playing cards who for some weird reason would be trashing around on the streets, but had to turn every single one (that doesn't make you look rather nutty) and I found many new Jokers that way...
Later on when I got a cable connected to my flat I started browsing the interweb, for Jokers and quickly found out that I wasn't the only fool to co

Not that Gordon, the other one.
Over the last few weeks I've been making a model of Gordon. Not the Thomas character, this one's a big blue engine. Oh wait.

I've always found this to be a weird coincidence. Two engines named Gordon, they both look similar, and first appeared around the same time as one another (for the record, the LMR's Gordon was built before The Three Railway Engines was published, but after most of it was written)

I've always preferred the WD 2-10-0 to the 2-8-0, though if the number of available models (both physical and virtual) are anything to go by, the 2-8-0 tends to be the preferred type (probably because it was more common in the UK). I will be making this model in various other liveries, including both WD green liveries, BR black and Σ.Ε.Κ. black livery.

Weird Matchbox Clones
I went to a market today. There was one stall selling various diecast vehicles (including a sticker face ERTL Bertie, which I picked up) and in the £1 tub was a series of toys that looked like smaller versions of the Matchbox trains. Since I'd never seen or heard of them before, I decided to snap them up. Not shown here are the passenger coach and the container wagon.

Basically, these are just like the Matchbox range, but smaller and with a more liberal use of plastic. The engines also have a metallic finish. They're apparently from a Hong Kong based company called Summer Metal Products Manufacturing (Though the toys are all just labelled "SM".)

Their official names are as follows:

No. S.8109 Steam Locomotive (The 0-4-0T)
No. S.8110 Pass Enger Coach (sic)
No. S.8111 Locomotive (The pannier tank)
No. S.8112 Continer (sic)

It looks like these haven't been documented on the web before, so it'd be interesting to know if anyone has any prior knowledge of these.

The Apple of my Eye
I'm very fond of the LNER's postwar take on apple green. Possibly because I really like Gill Sans (it still looks contemporary as compared to the 3D font they were using on engines before the war). Plus it's just nice to see smaller engines painted a colour other than black.

As usual, all that's left to do are the BR liveries, and then the J83 should be ready for release.

Hey, Peeps, you're looking at my very OK Deviantart page! I've not uploaded an awful lot yet, but I've been drawing comic strips since around 2003 so there should be more to come, both new stuff and stuff dug up from my archive of old strips!

Hi Freddy. Thank you for giving the UK LMS company much needed love in 'Trainz' . There was/is a great shortage of Freeware models.

My only feed-back grape is most of your loco models seem are without a players drivers cab. As they stand they great for AI trains, but a sim player needs a bit more to play with.

If you can't do your own (sure you heard) there is 'default cabs' in Trainz. the file name is 'PD 15' for tender locos and PD 15 tank' for tank locos.

Right now there seem to be no LMS tank loco aimed at the sim player to use.

I hope you can fix this.

Best Regards

I haven't figured out how to do cab controls yet, but I still prefer to have my own interiors for the locos. Hopefully at some point I'll be able to create cab controls of my own
